NANOCRAFTED - a crafty challenge

A friend posted on FB asking if anyone wanted to join her for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month - a writing challenge). I'm not big on writing (of the novel/story variety) but told her if there was a crafty version I'd be down because I have 100+ greeting cards to make plus a full line for Handmade Promenade. That's how NaNoCraftEd was born.

Yeah, so Handmade Promenade and Indie Gift Box will be keeping me super busy this month. That means nothing on my 100 Day Hustle will probably get done. I don't know why, but I kinda saw that happening. I did get one thing done on my list though. I finally got my Aunt's cards and card holders finished and sent off to her. Too bad it took me A LOT longer than it should have.

So here is my NaNoCraftEd to do list. I'm going to try my best to check in AT LEAST once a week with my progress. The majority of this list needs to be finished by November 21. The rest of it (valentine cards) doesn't need to be done until the first week of December. The only problem I see right now is running out of supplies. I'm running out of yarn and because I won't get paid until items sell I don't have any extra cash on hand to buy yarn. Which is part of the reason why I'm having a sale in my shop right now.

Having a sale will earn me some extra cash for supplies and help make up for the fact that my hours are being cut at work AGAIN! So, all weekend long everything in my shop is 20% off. This includes custom orders as well. All items are already discounted so you don't need a special code.

All this holiday/vending crafting should most definitely help get me out of my crafting funk. Wish me luck!

stopping in and that grumpy cat

First off, have you seen Tard the Grumpy Cat on the interwebs yet? I don't know what it is about him, but I think he's adorable and I wish he were mine. He might be grumpy, but he definitely makes me smile.

Okay, enough about him. So I haven't been around much the last couple of weeks. I'm still in a little bit of a crafting funk. I've been doing some crocheting daily, but nothing I've wanted to document. Pretty much just stuff for the shop. I have a couple of new ideas in mind, but even the crocheting is slow going.

I can't remember the last time I did any sewing. Maybe last week? And those cards I'm supposed to be working on? I got some of the card stock picked out and cut, but that's about it. (I really work better with a deadline.) I think in order to get out of this funk I need to do a little bit every day. Maybe 15 minutes here and 15 minutes there until I get to the point where I don't want to walk away from a project. I'm hoping that will work. Now I just need to figure out where to start.

In other news, there's still a hole in my ceiling. The leasing office tells me that there are only two contractors in this city that are able to fix that hole and they're waiting for bids. I don't expect to see that hole fixed any time soon. That just makes me want to move more.

I went to check out an apartment last week Friday and they had nothing available for 60 days. This was after I called them and they said come in and check out what we have. *deep heavy sigh* There is another place I plan to check out next week. I plan to call and ask a few more questions before I actually visit the office.

You'll probably start seeing destashing posts from time to time as I pack up my things. I don't want to lug all my stuff to a new place if it's stuff I don't use much anymore. Probably a lot of scrapbooking/stamping things. If you're interested in anything, let me know. If you know anyone that might be interested in my supplies, send them my way. I'd really appreciate it.

That's about all I have right now. I will be working all weekend and they will be full days since we're gearing up for the holidays. I need to attack this 100 Day Hustle list so hopefully I can get a little bit of crafting done this weekend. I'll back Thursday for sure as it will be my day on the Let's Get Acquainted Blog Hop. I hope to get a tutorial posted. Wish me luck.

Have a great weekend!

{to do} - 100 Day Hustle

Photobucket

I'm switching up my to do list a little bit this week (and posting it a day early). Kelsey of Kelsey Sews is doing a 100 Day Hustle challenge. Saturday, the first day of fall, marked the beginning of the last 100 days of the year. This challenge is to get all your projects done by the end of the year in order to start 2013 with a clean slate. I thought I'd join up and see what I could get finished. Here's my list:

  • buy batting for Lucy, Sally (Simpatico fabric), Q4K x 2, Bernadette (granny square quilt)
  • quilt and bind Lucy
  • piece, quilt and bind Sally
  • piece, quilt and bind Bernadette
  • piece, quilt and bind sewing machine cover
  • get shop stocked for the holidays
  • make at least 10 bow ties
  • make at least 10 hair bows
  • complete aunt's card/card holder order by the first week of October
Most of my list will depending on being able to buy batting to finish them up. I may end up adding more things to it later because I like to stay busy. Wish me luck and then come join us!
